Raya delights await shoppers at company’s seven malls
This Hari Raya Aidilfitri, enjoy a celebration of culture and festive delights at Sunway Malls.
Seven Sunway malls across the country have been given a festive look – with kampung-like houses and pops of colours – in keeping with the unifying theme of “Riuh Ria Raya”.
The malls are Velocity, Pyramid and Putra in Kuala Lumpur; Giza (Petaling Jaya); Carnival (Penang) as well as Big Box Retail Park and Citrine Hub (Johor).
Speaking at the launch of the theme at Sunway Putra Mall in Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Malls and Theme Parks chief executive officer HC Chan hopes that this year’s theme will re-engage shoppers.
“After a hiatus of two years, Malaysians welcome back the full celebration of Hari Raya. It marks a momentous moment, one that is highly anticipated and will be joyfully, colourfully and cheerfully celebrated.
“That is essentially what Sunway Malls’ Riuh Ria Raya is all about…a joyous festive celebration that we all know and love,” he added.
The launch was followed by a modern dance performance by Zeppo Youngsterz and a caklempong show.
Along with traditional kampung houses with modern twists, Sunway Malls also chose to showcase the skills of Malaysia’s many talented artists, designers and entrepreneurs throughout the space.
The artistic works of Abdulrashade – a Penang-born graffiti artist known for his wild-style lettering that incorporates abstract art and massive composition – features different flowers in full bloom, signifying a new dawn, while the striking colours and bold strokes represent life and perseverance.
These designs are also incorporated into the mall’s Hari Raya packet design as well as a full body wrap on a new Peugeot 2008 that serves as an interactive augmented reality (AR) experience at the ground floor of Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Velocity, Sunway Putra Mall and Sunway Big Box’s main atrium.
Shoppers can scan the unique QR code and point their phone cameras at the car to watch the Hari Raya artwork come to life and share the experience on social media with the hashtags #RiuhRiaRaya and #PeugeotMalaysia.
Additionally, shoppers can redeem a custom-made fabric face mask produced exclusively by local designer Datuk Tom Abang Saufi, when they spend at Sunway Velocity, Sunway Carnival or Sunway Big Box. Alternatively, they can purchase it on Sunway eMall’s website.
They can also find a wide selection of Hari Raya essentials made by local designers and entrepreneurs such as Salikin Sidek, Variante, PenanLab, MyHijab, 90’s Snacky and Fama Agrocraft.
In line with its Autism Friendly Mall initiative Autsome, Sunway Putra Mall has collaborated with two talented autistic artists from Nakseni – Izaati Shahrin and Haziq Izmi – to create seven unique murals inspired by flora and fauna.
Shoppers can spot the beautiful hand-painted artworks displayed at different locations within the mall.
The malls also support Generating Opportunities for Learning Disables (GOLD) and Komuniti Tukang Jahit (Tailors Community) in the spirit of giving back to the community by buying Hari Raya cookies and giant fabric ketupat for guests at the launch.
For the first time, Sunway eMall, the one-stop online shopping experience for all seven Sunway Malls, will be available offline in its first shoppable space in Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Velocity Mall and Sunway Putra Mall.
Shoppers can browse, scan and shop for items ranging from beauty and fashion to home appliances at the concourse and be rewarded with an additional gift with every purchase.
They can also consolidate their orders with free delivery, and mix and match their redemption items.
Those who spend in the malls physically are entitled to redeem vouchers worth up to RM80 to use on Sunway eMall.
Until May 8, shoppers can utilise special promo codes such as RIA25 to get RM25 off their purchases with a minimum spend of RM150, RIA100 to get RM100 off their purchases with a minimum spend of RM500, and RIA150 to get RM150 off their purchases with a minimum spend of RM800 – all of which entitle them to free delivery.
