Charles Manson Denied Conjugal Visits With 26 Year Old Bride
80-year-old mass murderer Charles Manson will not be allowed to consummate his marriage with Afton Elaine Burton, the 26-year-old woman he intends to marry. Because he is a life prisoner and has no parole date, Manson is not permitted to enjoy family visits in private. Conjugal visits won’t be part of his married life.
There are a lot of questions surrounding the upcoming nuptials. Afton, who goes by the nickname “Star,” told the Associated Press that she loves Charles and that the couple will be married in December. Burton, who maintains websites advocating Manson’s innocence, says that she wants to keep working on his case and that becoming his wife would entitle her to information that’s not available to those who are not directly related to Charles.
“There’s certain things next of kin can do,” she said without going into further detail about her desire to help one of the most infamous killers of all time.
In a December 2013 interview with Rolling Stone, Charles Manson denied making plans to marry.
“That’s a bunch of garbage. You know that, man. That’s trash. We’re just playing that for public consumption.”
A prison wedding planner has been placed in charge of the upcoming nuptials and, although the prison has chaplains on staff, outside officiants are permitted to perform marriages. Manson and his bride-to-be are allowed to invite up to ten guests. Members of the old “Manson family” who won’t be attending include followers Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten, both of whom are still in prison. Bruce Davis, Robert Beausoleil, and Charles “Tex” Watson, also former “family” members, remain imprisoned as well.
Sharon Tate’s sister Debra, who speaks for the families of Charles Manson’s victims, has said that the upcoming nuptials are “ludicrous.”
“I think it’s insane. What would any young woman in her right mind want with an 80-year-old man?”
